I grew up in the idyllic seaside town of Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast with the beautiful Australian beach at my front door and relocated to the Big Smoke – Sydney in my twenties. There I fell into a job with a big outbound travel wholesaler – and thus the travel bug began! I was lucky enough to work in Hawaii and San Francisco for a travel company while in my twenties – but always loved coming back home to Australia.
I’ve been with my Scottish partner Ronnie for over 25 years. We share a passion for travel and have travelled extensively throughout Australia and overseas. We’re also avid horse racing fans and try to get to Australia’s pinnacle horse racing event, the Melbourne Cup, as often as possible to watch “the race that stops the nation” while every Aussie is glued to the TV screen on that first Tuesday in November each year. My love of fashion has stemmed from race-day attendances and on any given lunch hour, you can find me scouring the fashion racks searching for that perfect outfit. I lead an active life, enjoying our great Australian beaches and holidays where I can swim, paddleboard and run/hike. I’m an avid reader of great fiction novels and love a great movie, especially art house and period pieces.
Ronnie and I live on the harbour at Mosman which some consider ‘a bit posh’ – but the inner city works well for a couple who have no kids, with great access to the city, Sydney Harbour and iconic Balmoral Beach. Here we can take advantage of the great nature walks and village pathways in the area. We like to unwind at any of the many picnic places with some bubbles and cheese or by jumping on a bus to meet friends or have a meal in the city.
My role at Southern World is the Accountant for the Australian and New Zealand office. It’s a challenging position with lots of variety and I enjoy the challenge. I love the office vibe and the people I work with and also gain a great deal of satisfaction from my role in assisting with the production of the Southern World company brochure which provides an outlet for my creative side!
